New folders!

I made new folders for all of the JK students. Inside the folder is a behavior calendar. Each day the students start on "green" and depending on their choices they can move to blue, orange or red. I think this is a good way to communicate with you at home about your child's day. The students get very excited when they are moved up to blue for making an extra GREAT choice! I attached a picture of what the behavior chart in the room looks like so you can have a better understanding of this classroom managment tool.

Holiday Fun has begun!

All of the students are very excited for the Christmas party tomorrow! We got a special treat today from the 5th grade students. They performed a Christmas musical show for us in the gym this morning. "Frassy" the elf also surprised us with some elf kisses to enjoy at snack time. He is hiding out in the nurses office today. Here is the clue he gave us this morning " I hope you have enjoyed your treats; something to eat and warm your feet! But if they made you sick, come see me real quick". The students have had a lot of fun finding Frassy thoughout the building this week. Don't forget, tomorrow is Pajama day and also holiday hat day! We are looking forward to the party and winter break!

Classroom party reminder *Allergies*

Dear parents,

This letter is to inform you that a student in your child's classroom has several severe food allergies, including peanuts, milk, dairy products and eggs. Strict avoidance of these products is the only way to prevent a life threatening allergic reaction for this student. We are asking your assistance in providing the student with as afe learning enviornment.

If exposed to these products through contact or ingestion, this student may develop a life threatening allergic reaction that requires emergency medical treatment. Please do not send snacks/treats containing peanut, tree nut, soy, green pea, cauliflower and pomegranate for your child to eat in the classroom. If your child has eaten these products prior to coming to school, please be sure your child's hands have been thoroughly washed prior to entering the school.

We appreciate your support of these procedures. If you have any questions, please contact on of us.

It is definetly winter! There is quite a bit of snow on the playground and the students love playing with it. Please remember to send your child to school with all the necessary gear: snowpants, gloves, hat etc... Students are not aloud to play on the snow or playground if they do not have snowpants on. (The playground is too wet). Thank you! Happy Friday!

Dec.9-13

This week...
December is flying by, before we know it, it will be Christmas break! Two more weeks! This week we are going to be busy learning all about the letter Tt. Practice finding the letter Tt at home or search for objects that begin with the /t/ sound. Our reading theme this week is pets so we will be talking about pets we have at home or pets that we wish we had at home. We will also talk about the difference between good pets and bad pets (ex. alligator=bad pet, cat=good pet).

Our math theme this week is "construction zone". The students are very excited about this theme because one of their favorite choice time centers is the workbench/tool center. Within the theme of construction we are focusing on measurement. We are comparing heavy and light, tall and short, and even learning how to use a ruler. Challenge your child to use a ruler at home to measure objects in the house. We are continuing to work on recognizing and counting numbers 1-10.

Ask your child about "Frassy the Elf". He is in our school watching our behaviors to make sure we are making good choices all of the time. We know we can't touch him. We are having fun finding him in different locations around the building each day.

Jr. Kindergarten Christmas Party

Friday,December 20th @ 10AM & 1PM (early dismissal @ 2)

Parents: Im not sure what Mrs. Sheets did in the past as far as classroom parties go (Halloween, etc…). I am wondering if you already have a group of volunteers for the Christmas party or if that is yet to be determined. Please let me know if you have any information or if you would like to volunteer that day. Any fun creative party ideas are gratefully welcome also! J

Thanks, Mrs. Williamson

Dec.2-6

This week-

This week is a bit crazy for me and my class. Unfortunetly, my grandpa passed away on Sunday after a short battle with cancer. I was gone yesterday and will be gone again on Thursday and Friday for the funeral. I have made sub plans so the students will continue learning what was planned when I am gone. I got a great report from the sub yesterday that the students were all very helpful and well behaved :) good job!

In reading this week we are learning about the letter B. Have your child practice writing the letter b or challenge them to find the letter B in your home or while in the car. It is also important to review past letters as well. The more you practice with letters the more automatic the skill will become for your child. We are also working on rhyming this week. Nursery rhymes are a great way to introduce young learners to rhyming. The theme for reading this week is "Working together" so we are talking about how to be a good helper, who works in our schools and communities to be a good helper, etc..

In math this week we are continuing to review numbers 1-10 (writing, counting and recognizing). We are also starting to learn about graphing. There are many things you and your child can graph at home. (Family members favorite colors, favorite holiday, etc..) We are doing many class graphs this week.

It is going to be cold this week, please remember snow pants, hats, gloves etc.. for recess :)
